If you are driving on Florida’s roads, you need to be vigilant in any driving conditions to make sure you can avoid hazards on the road. Even in perfect driving conditions, there are some hazards on the road that could increase your risk for getting into a car accident. Here are some common road hazards that you need to avoid:
A pothole is a serious hole in the roads caused by weathering and regular wear and tear from trucks. A large pothole to be extremely devastating to your suspension and tires. An unexpected pothole could ruin your suspension or cause you to move into a new lane of traffic by accident.
Water on the roads:
Frequent storms often lead to water pooling along the roads. It’s difficult to judge the depth of a puddle until you start driving through it. Flooded roads could potentially damage your vehicle or cause you to hydroplane making it very difficult for you to control the direction of your vehicle.
In the wintertime the formation of ice can often be a serious cause for concern for many drivers on the roads. When temperatures start to dip down below freezing it’s an extremely good idea to consider slowing down or adjusting the way that you use the braking system on your vehicle. A slow and extremely deliberate stop is often the best way to handle ice.
A number of animals on the road can also cause you to veer off without warning. It’s likely that nobody ever wants to hit an animal. If you’re ever in a situation where you might hit an animal it’s wise to hot the horn and flash your lights to try and scare the animal off the road quickly.
Swerving and braking erratically can often lead to accidents.
